About Michaela Herring
Growing up, Michaela was a competitive tri-athlete whose determination and strong sense of justice shaped the way she approaches both life and leadership today. She grew up in Eugene, Oregon and moved to Northern California to play soccer in college. Upon college graduation, she pursued her MBA from the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs and worked in higher education operations. While working in university operations, she saw firsthand how financial challenges affected both students and staff. Determined to make a meaningful impact, she discovered that the best marketing wasn’t about convincing people—it was about slowing down, listening, and connecting to build genuine relationships. As Director of Campus Services, that philosophy helped her increase the department’s profitability by 50%.
She found Bright Lake upon moving back home and was in awe of the impact she saw them have and the kind of people they are. Coming into the company, Michaela was looking for more than a career- she was searching for a team she could truly call family – and she found it. She has grown significantly since then and has become passionate about helping people get out of their own way, serving people with excellence, and never giving up on what people believe in. Much in the same way the people at Bright Lake once did for her. She believes the best conversations often begin before someone even knows the questions to ask. Her passion is helping people gain clarity, see new possibilities, and move forward with confidence.
Through thoughtful strategy and meaningful storytelling, she strives to create experiences that educate, inspire, and empower others. Known for blending creativity with strategic thinking, Michaela is committed to building authentic connections while helping both her team and everyone they serve grow with confidence. She truly enjoys leading the marketing team and fostering a collaborative, creative environment focused on growth and innovation. However, at the core Michaela enjoys more than anything connecting with others and hearing their stories. She believes her true calling is to listen, empower and elevate those around her.
Outside of work, Michaela enjoys spending time with her three German Shepherds—Kiara, Kovu, and Lucille—and is always up for a spontaneous adventure, whether it’s exploring a new place or spending time outdoors.
